The winter in the highlands of Yemen tends to be very cold with temperatures dipping to below 0 °C (32.0 °F). In many areas, temperature goes to – 6 °C. Yemen has about 3.1 million internally displaced people with no protection against the cold, and most families in need lack the funds to purchase what they need to stay warm in the winter. Children, when they go off to school in the morning, lack adequate clothing to keep them warm.
This project provides needy and internally displaced families in the highlands of Yemen with blankets and warm clothing. This support will reduce the risk of diseases, especially respiratory illnesses that are more common in the cold weather. It will also allow children to go to school without undue suffering from the cold. During the 2019 winter season, we provided winter items to over 3200 people.
